2 Disaster Preparedness & Practical Training
6 months ago, CK visited Full Gospel Church, Johor Baru. Together, we planned to do something different in our training. 6 months after the meeting, we conducted IDRN 1100 disaster preparedness and WISSAR (Wilderness Survival and Search and Rescue) at the same time in FGCJB. About 25 participants attended the one day (IDRN 1100) training and 15 participants stayed back for the next 3 days and 2 nights for WISSAR. The results were fantastic!
29-30 Sep, Touch International (Singapore) invited CREST again to conduct disaster preparedness training for their volunteers. A total of 4 batches of volunteers had been trained to date. We are looking forward to conduct Community Based Disaster Response (CBDR) in the first quarter of next year. Thank you for this wonderfully and continuous partnership.

28 Sep, Palu, Sulawesi, Indonesia – A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi on 28 September. Subsequently a tsunami swept through the Talise beaches of Palu City and Donggala. The local authority reported that more than 1,500 bodies had been recovered with another 5,000 persons still missing. Our local partner arrived at Palu on the second day after the earthquake to provide immediate relief aid for the survivors and to conduct a rapid needs assessment.
CREST, together with Methodist Crisis Relief and Development (MCRD) and Touch International Singapore (TI) will jointly deploy a team of 6 volunteers (2 from each organization) to Palu from 19-26 October 2018. Our objective is to provide adequate relief supply based on assessment reports.
Kindly continue to uphold us in your prayer for our safety on the ground, and that we will receive enough funding for the ground operations and for relief supplies.
