As this New Year and Chinese New Year was being celebrated everywhere, CREST has been kept busy monitoring the weather for Kelantan and Johor. During both new year eves, we received alerts from our friends and CREST has sent aid to empower our partners in Kota Bharu and Segamat.

Both places were not badly affected when compared to 2014 and 2011. Most important, we praise God because people are coming together regardless of their denominations, helping one and another through their love. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35.

I was away in China most of January. During this time, I conducted two trainings at Jiamusi, Heilongjiang China and Jilin, China. 100 brothers and sisters attended the 4-day training on Community Based Disaster Preparedness (CBDP) and Community Based Disaster Response (CBDR). One day in the future, China will be the most resourceful country that can provide for the physical, mental and spiritual needs of the nations.

2 Kelantan Flood Assessment Report

Kota Bharu: 26 January 2017. Following the joint assessment with HISTEAM and local churches, CREST has contributed RM 5,000 to our local partner (IDRN Kota Bharu) for immediate flood relief. IDRN Kota Bharu has identified residents of Kampung Sungai Limbat, Peringat, Kelantan as beneficiaries. There are 70 households in this village. The flood waters had reached 5 to 8 feet in height. Majority of the residents had been evacuated to government runned evacuation centers. Distributed items are mainly hygiene and cleaning kits.
