FOOD4HOPE 2.0 Klang Valley

Background

Malaysia’s healthcare system is at its breaking point! On 11 January 2021, the Prime Minister of Malaysia announced the second Movement Control Order (MCO) starting from 13 January 2021. Healthcare systems and hospitals across Malaysia are under tremendous pressure given an average of 3,000 new COVID-19 confirmed cases reported daily. Non-essential economy sectors were ordered to be shut down, causing many Malaysians and non-Malaysian employees who receive per diem allowance or weekly wages to lose their income.

2020 KAPIT FLOOD, SARAWAK (23-30 SEP)

Background

24 Sep – Water level at Rajang River has risen to a dangerous level and placed Kapit, Song and Kanowit on high alert. Kapit District, known as the flood epicentre, and many schools located next to the river experienced floodwaters 20 metres higher than the normal level.

With the coordination of our local partner, LightHouse Kapit, CREST contributed RM5,000 to provide immediate essential items to several boarding schools. We also received request for water filtration system in several remote areas.
