6 months after our trip in January 2019, it was time to send a team to follow up on the progress of our transitional shelters building project and to look into possible livelihood projects for the earthquake and tsunami survivors.
Following the joint assessment conducted by CREST, Yayasan Sin Chew, Fo Guang Shan and Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia on 6 December 2018, the commitment was made to build 390 transitional shelters in Jono Oge, Sigi and in Balaesang, Dongala.
Before the ending of year 2018, CREST received a recognition from The Brand Laureate CSR Brandleadership Awards 2018. We were pleasantly surprised to receive the nomination letter and to this day we still wonder how we had achieved it. This award and the honor of receiving it goes to all our founders; current and former Executive Directors, Board of Directors, staffs, donors, supporters and volunteers who have contributed to CREST in the past 20 years. Without your support, hard work and contributions, CREST would not have gone this far.
After our first relief team returned in October 2018, CREST has contacted by few Malaysian NGOs and a Foundation for possible coorpreation in rebuilding transiltional shelters. With the help from our local partners, a team of 6 presentative from 2 NGOs and 1 from Foundation has visited Palu & Sigi for protential projects and receipients.
1. Establish a local coordination center in Palu.
2. Assessment on the location for transiltional shelters.
3. Meeting with the fisherman for possible livelihood project.
4. Provide proposal and plan for protential donors.
