1. Introduction to Drones and Aerial Mapping Workshop 23ʳᵈ -25ᵗʰ March
CREST hosted a team from its IDRN Partner in coming together to learn and share knowledge of the usage of drone for impact assessments and hazard mapping in disaster zones.
The team is exploring leveraging drone technology and its mapping software as an additional support tool to provide better disaster response in the initial damage assessment. The results from the software also would enable responders to have progress of follow-up on rehabilitation development and future risk mitigation.
2. 4WD Offroad Awareness Workshop 17ᵗʰ June
CREST conducted a Basic 4WD Awareness session held at The Hideout Camp, Gopeng. The session involved class theory and FAQ as well as a runaround practical session in the nearby vicinity of Gua Tempurung, Perak.
The participants learned about the mechanics of the 4WD, mechanical familiarity with the participant’s own vehicles, basic equipment to carry, spotter’s hand signals, basic usage of the winch, gear selections for different terrains and a ride-out through a simple trail to test and put into practice all that they have learnt.
